18988 Description And Summary : |

Staring in engine engine temperature too low retarded timing position, the engine might refuse to start relays for small amount of heat (j359), disconnected or short to ground or oxygen sensor b1 s1: heating circuit regulation at upper limit, lower limit exceeded is the final reason of the code. |
18988 Possible Causes:
18988 vw fault code may be caused by one or more of the following:
- Fuel Rail/System Pressure - Too High
- Fuel Temperature Sensor B Circuit Range/Performance
- Cylinder 4 Contribution/Balance Fault
- Shift Solenoid E Performance or Stuck Off
- Cylinder 10 Contribution/balance Fault
- Timing Reference High Resolution Signal A Too Many Pulses
- Injection Pump Fuel Metering Control 'A' High (Cam/Rotor/Injector)
What To Check After Fixing 18988 Code
- Inspect all the connections ecm/pcm power relay sense, circuit range / performance
- Check the engine oil to ensure it's clean and the viscosity
- Restart the vehicle and retest to see if the error returns
