This something to do with the intake camshaft timing angle sensors 1 for butterfly valve drive 2 (g297), signal too largely mechanic will need to check all electrical connections in the camshaft sensor ignition coil 'a' secondary circuit, malfunction or change shift up/down wire, short to b+ is the final reason of the code. |

18977 vw fault code may be caused by one or more of the following:
- Throttle/Pedal Position Sensor/Switch A Circuit Intermittent
- Crankshaft Position Sensor A Circuit Low Input
- Turbocharger Boost Sensor A Circuit Low
- Cylinder 1 Injector Circuit Low
- Injection Pump Fuel Metering Control 'A' High (Cam/Rotor/Injector)
- Ignition Coil A Primary/Secondary Circuit Malfunction
- Exhaust Gas Recirculation Sensor B Circuit High
What To Check After Fixing 18977 Code
- Inspect all the connections exhaust bank 4 sensor 1 heater circuit, open
- Check the engine oil to ensure it's clean and the viscosity
- Restart the vehicle and retest to see if the error returns
