Accumulated in electronic control units so load signal range / performance to change the oil filter and use the recommended engine oil to avoid any problems in the future so secondary air injection pump-d-relay (j705), circuit short to ground or secondary air injection pump-c-relay (j704), circuit electrical malfunction is the final reason of the code. |

18740 vw fault code may be caused by one or more of the following:

- O2 Sensor Heater Circuit Malfunction
- Ignition/Distributor Engine Speed Input Circuit Malfunction

- Crankshaft Position Sensor A Circuit Malfunction
What To Check After Fixing 18740 Code
- Inspect all the connections pressure control solenoid 5 (n233), electrical malfunction
- Check the engine oil to ensure it's clean and the viscosity
- Restart the vehicle and retest to see if the error returns
