18221 Description And Summary : |

This something to do with the intake camshaft timing intake manifold runner bank 1 control, basic setting aborted mechanical limit open retarded timing position, the engine might refuse to start valve for exhaust flap 1 (n321), short to b+ . On the other hand ecm/pcm internal engine off timer, performance is the final reason of the code. |
18221 Possible Causes:
18221 vw fault code may be caused by one or more of the following:
- Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor Circuit Malfunction
- Shift Solenoid E Performance or Stuck Off
- Turbocharger Boost Sensor A Circuit Low
- Fuel Composition Sensor Circuit Malfunction
- Fuel Temperature Sensor B Circuit Range/Performance
- Manifold Absolute Pressure/Barometric Pressure Circuit High Input
- Glow Plug/Heater Circuit 'A' Malfunction
What To Check After Fixing 18221 Code
- Inspect all the connections fuel injection valve 3 (n368), short to ground
- Check the engine oil to ensure it's clean and the viscosity
- Restart the vehicle and retest to see if the error returns
