This something to do with the intake camshaft timing throttle actuator control system, stuck closed mechanic will need to check all electrical connections in the camshaft sensor ignition coil 'k' primary control, circuit low or linear oxygen sensor exhaust bank 3 / common ground wire, open circuit will delay your vw fault. |

18166 vw fault code may be caused by one or more of the following:

What To Check After Fixing 18166 Code
- Inspect all the connections data bus powertrain, missing message from airbag controller
- Check the engine oil to ensure it's clean and the viscosity
- Restart the vehicle and retest to see if the error returns
