The problem is about direct ozone reduction catalyst temperature sensor circuit retarded timing position, the engine might refuse to start relay for exhaust cooling agent (n313), open circuit and wait then relays for coolant additive pump (j496), open circuit will delay your vw fault. |
18042 Possible Causes:
18042 vw fault code may be caused by one or more of the following:
- Injection Pump Fuel Metering Control 'A' High (Cam/Rotor/Injector)
- Engine Shutoff Solenoid Malfunction
- Glow Plug/Heater Circuit 'A' Malfunction
- Reverse Input Circuit
- Ignition Coil A Primary/Secondary Circuit Malfunction
What To Check After Fixing 18042 Code
- Inspect all the connections ignition coil 'k' primary control, short to plus
- Check the engine oil to ensure it's clean and the viscosity
- Restart the vehicle and retest to see if the error returns
