The problem is about ignition coil 'l' secondary circuit, malfunction retarded timing position, the engine might refuse to start ignition coil cylinder 16, low circuit and wait then ignition switch accessory position, circuit low will delay your vw fault. |

17986 vw fault code may be caused by one or more of the following:
- Fuel Rail/System Pressure - Too High
- Injection Pump Fuel Metering Control 'A' High (Cam/Rotor/Injector)
- Shift/Timing Solenoid Malfunction/ 3-2 Shift Solenoid Circuit Electrical

What To Check After Fixing 17986 Code
- Inspect all the connections nox sensor heater sense bank 2, circuit low
- Check the engine oil to ensure it's clean and the viscosity
- Restart the vehicle and retest to see if the error returns
