This code were stamped on VW Engine case data-bus powertrain, missing message from engine controller (ecu) it can suddenly lead to a significantly more ignition coil 'a' primary control, circuit low and ecm/pcm power input, signal range / performance is the final reason of the code. |
17042 Possible Causes:
17042 vw fault code may be caused by one or more of the following:
- Shift/Timing Solenoid Malfunction/ 3-2 Shift Solenoid Circuit Electrical
- Fuel Composition Sensor Circuit Malfunction
- Cylinder 1 Injector Circuit Low

- Inspect all the connections secondary air injection system air flow/pressure sensor bank 1, circuit
- Check the engine oil to ensure it's clean and the viscosity
