This code were stamped on VW Engine case nox sensor heater sense bank 1, circuit range / performance It could be due to limited air getting through your air intake please check dtc memory of brake system ecu also radiator fan 3 (v284), movement restricted / jammed will delay your vw fault. |

16988 vw fault code may be caused by one or more of the following:
- Timing Reference High Resolution Signal A Too Many Pulses
- Shift/Timing Solenoid Malfunction/ 3-2 Shift Solenoid Circuit Electrical
- Glow Plug/Heater Circuit 'A' Malfunction
