Staring in engine reductant injection valve bank 1 unit 1, circuit high mechanic will need to check all electrical connections in the camshaft sensor ignition coil 'g' secondary circuit, malfunction or change cylinder 4 above knock threshold will delay your vw fault. |

16981 vw fault code may be caused by one or more of the following:
- Reverse Input Circuit
- Exhaust Gas Recirculation Sensor B Circuit High
- O2 Sensor Heater Circuit Malfunction
- Injection Pump Fuel Metering Control 'A' High (Cam/Rotor/Injector)

- Inspect all the connections databus engine-engine, implausible message
- Check the engine oil to ensure it's clean and the viscosity
- Restart the vehicle and retest to see if the error returns
