16742 Possible Causes:
16742 vw fault code may be caused by one or more of the following:
- Ambient Air Temperature Sensor Circuit Low

- Cylinder 10 Contribution/balance Fault
- Crankshaft Position Sensor A Circuit Low Input
- Reverse Input Circuit

What To Check After Fixing 16742 Code
- Inspect all the connections secondary air injection valve 3 (n384), circuit short to ground
- Check the engine oil to ensure it's clean and the viscosity
- Restart the vehicle and retest to see if the error returns
