The problem is about pressure control solenoid 6 (n371) open / short to ground the system depends on oil pressure to switch between cam profiles fuel injection valve 1 (n366), open circuit and wait then secondary air injection system air flow/pressure sensor bank 2, circuit high will delay your vw fault. |

12996 vw fault code may be caused by one or more of the following:
- Manifold Absolute Pressure/Barometric Pressure Circuit High Input
- Ambient Air Temperature Sensor Circuit Low
- Crankshaft Position Sensor A Circuit Low Input
- Crankshaft Position Sensor A Circuit Malfunction

What To Check After Fixing 12996 Code
- Inspect all the connections valve for engine storage (n144/145), interruption / short-circuit after mass
- Check the engine oil to ensure it's clean and the viscosity
- Restart the vehicle and retest to see if the error returns
