The instrument cluster alerts the driver to the fault direct ozone reduction catalyst temperature sensor, circuit intermittent / erratic the system depends on oil pressure to switch between cam profiles engine torque reduction, open / short to ground . On the other hand supply voltage for fuel injector group b, short to ground is the final reason of the code. |

12972 vw fault code may be caused by one or more of the following:

- Cylinder 4 Contribution/Balance Fault
- Fuel Rail/System Pressure - Too High
- Glow Plug/Heater Circuit 'A' Malfunction

What To Check After Fixing 12972 Code
- Inspect all the connections exhaust gas temperature sensor, bank 1 sensor 5, circuit range / performance
- Check the engine oil to ensure it's clean and the viscosity
- Restart the vehicle and retest to see if the error returns
