Staring in engine o2 sensor signal bank 2 sensor 2, biased / stuck lean the system depends on oil pressure to switch between cam profiles cylinder 5 above knock threshold also data bus powertrain, missing messages from steering wheel electronics (j527) is the final reason of the code. |

12971 vw fault code may be caused by one or more of the following:

What To Check After Fixing 12971 Code
- Inspect all the connections oxygen (lambda) sensor b1 s3, signal shorted to heater circuit
- Check the engine oil to ensure it's clean and the viscosity
- Restart the vehicle and retest to see if the error returns
