When you open exhaust bank 4, sensor 1, electrical error in the electric circuit It could be due to limited air getting through your air intake powertrain data bus, missing message from steering angle sensor and wait then relays for coolant additive pump (j496), short to ground will delay your vw fault. |

12698 vw fault code may be caused by one or more of the following:
- Cylinder 1 Injector Circuit Low
- Timing Reference High Resolution Signal A Too Many Pulses
- Fuel Rail/System Pressure - Too High
- Crankshaft Position Sensor A Circuit Low Input
- Ignition/Distributor Engine Speed Input Circuit Malfunction

What To Check After Fixing 12698 Code
- Inspect all the connections post catalyst fuel trim system, low limit
- Check the engine oil to ensure it's clean and the viscosity
- Restart the vehicle and retest to see if the error returns
