This something to do with the intake camshaft timing o2 sensor negative current control bank 2 sensor 1, circuit high retarded timing position, the engine might refuse to start o2 sensor pumping current trim bank 2 sensor 1, circuit low . On the other hand air cleaner inlet control, circuit low is the final reason of the code. |

12649 vw fault code may be caused by one or more of the following:
- Shift/Timing Solenoid Malfunction/ 3-2 Shift Solenoid Circuit Electrical
- Crankshaft Position Sensor A Circuit Low Input
- Cylinder 10 Contribution/balance Fault
- Engine Oil Temperature Sensor Malfunction
- Fuel Composition Sensor Circuit Malfunction
- Glow Plug/Heater Circuit 'A' Malfunction
What To Check After Fixing 12649 Code
- Inspect all the connections valve for exhaust flap 1 (n321), short to ground
- Check the engine oil to ensure it's clean and the viscosity
- Restart the vehicle and retest to see if the error returns
