12496 Description And Summary : |

When you open 'a' rocker arm actuator system, performance or stuck off retarded timing position, the engine might refuse to start secondary air injection system control 'a', circuit high and wait then vacuum reservoir pressure sensor, circuit is the final reason of the code. |
12496 Possible Causes:
12496 vw fault code may be caused by one or more of the following:
- Cylinder 4 Contribution/Balance Fault
- Injection Pump Fuel Metering Control 'A' High (Cam/Rotor/Injector)
- Crankshaft Position Sensor B Circuit Malfunction
- Crankshaft Position Sensor A Circuit Malfunction
- Cylinder 1 Injector Circuit Low
- O2 Sensor Heater Circuit Malfunction
What To Check After Fixing 12496 Code
- Inspect all the connections secondary air injection system switching valve bank 2, stuck open
- Check the engine oil to ensure it's clean and the viscosity
- Restart the vehicle and retest to see if the error returns
