This something to do with the intake camshaft timing o2 sensor pumping current trim bank 1 sensor 1, circuit high the system depends on oil pressure to switch between cam profiles hydraulic actuator position sender (g302), no / incorrect basic setting/adaptation or ecm/pcm power input, signal range / performance will delay your vw fault. |
12396 Possible Causes:
12396 vw fault code may be caused by one or more of the following:
- Cylinder 10 Contribution/balance Fault
- Exhaust Gas Recirculation Sensor B Circuit High
- Crankshaft Position Sensor A Circuit Malfunction
- Shift/Timing Solenoid Malfunction/ 3-2 Shift Solenoid Circuit Electrical

What To Check After Fixing 12396 Code
- Inspect all the connections valve for torque support mount, open circuit
- Check the engine oil to ensure it's clean and the viscosity
