This something to do with the intake camshaft timing exhaust bank 3, probe 1 signal too slowly it can suddenly lead to a significantly more supply voltage for fuel injector group a, short to b+ or fuel pressure regulator 2 control circuit low will delay your vw fault. |
12164 Possible Causes:
12164 vw fault code may be caused by one or more of the following:
- Injector Circuit Malfunction - Cylinders
- Ignition Coil A Primary/Secondary Circuit Malfunction
- Cold Start Injector 1 Malfunction
- Ambient Air Temperature Sensor Circuit Low
- Throttle/Pedal Position Sensor/Switch A Circuit Intermittent

- O2 Sensor Heater Circuit Malfunction
What To Check After Fixing 12164 Code
- Inspect all the connections intake air heater "a", circuit
- Check the engine oil to ensure it's clean and the viscosity
- Restart the vehicle and retest to see if the error returns
