11978 vw fault code may be caused by one or more of the following:
- Cylinder 10 Contribution/balance Fault
- Reverse Input Circuit
- Shift/Timing Solenoid Malfunction/ 3-2 Shift Solenoid Circuit Electrical
- Cylinder 1 Injector Circuit Low

What To Check After Fixing 11978 Code
- Inspect all the connections data bus powertrain, implausible message from combi instrument
- Check the engine oil to ensure it's clean and the viscosity
