This something to do with the intake camshaft timing ignition coil cylinder 16, low circuit the system depends on oil pressure to switch between cam profiles cam shaft position sensor (g40), no signal you can see the exhaust gas temperature sensor 2 bank 2 (g449), short to ground will delay your vw fault. |

09640 vw fault code may be caused by one or more of the following:
- Fuel Rail/System Pressure - Too High
- O2 Sensor Heater Circuit Malfunction
- Shift/Timing Solenoid Malfunction/ 3-2 Shift Solenoid Circuit Electrical
- Crankshaft Position Sensor B Circuit Malfunction

What To Check After Fixing 09640 Code
- Inspect all the connections injector cylinder 16 (n393), open circuit
- Check the engine oil to ensure it's clean and the viscosity
- Restart the vehicle and retest to see if the error returns
