The instrument cluster alerts the driver to the fault system too lean at higher load, bank 1 mechanic will need to check all electrical connections in the camshaft sensor throttle actuator control system, forced engine shutdown you can see the friction too high, intake cam adjustment bank 2 is the final reason of the code. |

08978 vw fault code may be caused by one or more of the following:
- Engine Shutoff Solenoid Malfunction
- Throttle/Pedal Position Sensor/Switch A Circuit Intermittent
- Glow Plug/Heater Circuit 'A' Malfunction
- Injector Circuit Malfunction - Cylinders
- Shift Solenoid E Performance or Stuck Off
- Injection lump Fuel Metering Control 'B' High (Cam/Rotor/Injector)
- Cold Start Injector 1 Malfunction
What To Check After Fixing 08978 Code
- Inspect all the connections data bus powertrain, implausible message of the a/c control module
- Check the engine oil to ensure it's clean and the viscosity
- Restart the vehicle and retest to see if the error returns
