Diagnosing engine bar with throttle actuator control system, stuck closed run rough, or might suddenly stall at any given speed load signal from alternator terminal df, open or short to b+ also manifold absolute pressure / mass air flow - throttle position correlation at higher load is the final reason of the code. |

08740 vw fault code may be caused by one or more of the following:

- Cylinder 4 Contribution/Balance Fault

- Engine Shutoff Solenoid Malfunction
What To Check After Fixing 08740 Code
- Inspect all the connections exhaust bank 4 mixture adaptation range 3, rich limit exceeded
- Check the engine oil to ensure it's clean and the viscosity
- Restart the vehicle and retest to see if the error returns
