The problem is about fuel cap sensor / switch, circuit It could be due to limited air getting through your air intake valve for pump - jet: cylinder 8 (n304), circuit low input and wait then radiator fan (v7), difficulty of movement / blocked is the final reason of the code. |
07996 Possible Causes:
07996 vw fault code may be caused by one or more of the following:
- Throttle/Pedal Position Sensor/Switch A Circuit Intermittent
- Injector Circuit Malfunction - Cylinders
- Fuel Temperature Sensor B Circuit Range/Performance
- Cylinder 4 Contribution/Balance Fault

What To Check After Fixing 07996 Code
- Inspect all the connections data bus powertrain, incorrect signal from adr control module
- Check the engine oil to ensure it's clean and the viscosity
- Restart the vehicle and retest to see if the error returns
