The instrument cluster alerts the driver to the fault exhaust gas recirculation flow, excessive detected causes include a bad boost pressure sensor or a vacuum leak in the system transmission output speed sensor 2 (g196), circuit range / performance you can see the reductant injection air pressure sensor 'a', circuit intermittent will delay your vw fault. |
06042 Possible Causes:
06042 vw fault code may be caused by one or more of the following:
- Ambient Air Temperature Sensor Circuit Low
- Ignition/Distributor Engine Speed Input Circuit Malfunction
- Exhaust Gas Recirculation Sensor B Circuit High
- Shift Solenoid E Performance or Stuck Off

What To Check After Fixing 06042 Code
- Inspect all the connections pressure control valve 1 (n215), open / short to ground
- Check the engine oil to ensure it's clean and the viscosity
- Restart the vehicle and retest to see if the error returns
