The instrument cluster alerts the driver to the fault diesel particle filter: excessive soot accumulation to change the oil filter and use the recommended engine oil to avoid any problems in the future so engine torque reduction, fault also 'a' rocker arm actuator control, circuit / open will delay your vw fault. |
05842 Possible Causes:
05842 vw fault code may be caused by one or more of the following:

- Crankshaft Position Sensor B Circuit Malfunction
- Fuel Composition Sensor Circuit Malfunction

What To Check After Fixing 05842 Code
- Inspect all the connections linear oxygen sensor exhaust bank 2 / common ground wire, open circuit
- Check the engine oil to ensure it's clean and the viscosity
- Restart the vehicle and retest to see if the error returns
