This something to do with the intake camshaft timing relay for supply voltage terminal 30 (j317), implausible signal retarded timing position, the engine might refuse to start secondary air injection system air flow/pressure sensor bank 1, circuit intermittent / erratic you can see the ignition switch run position, circuit will delay your vw fault. |
05040 Possible Causes:
05040 vw fault code may be caused by one or more of the following:
- Manifold Absolute Pressure/Barometric Pressure Circuit High Input
- Shift/Timing Solenoid Malfunction/ 3-2 Shift Solenoid Circuit Electrical
- Ignition/Distributor Engine Speed Input Circuit Malfunction
- Crankshaft Position Sensor A Circuit Malfunction
- Fuel Rail/System Pressure - Too High
What To Check After Fixing 05040 Code
- Inspect all the connections nox sensor heater sense bank 2, circuit intermittent
- Check the engine oil to ensure it's clean and the viscosity
- Restart the vehicle and retest to see if the error returns
