The instrument cluster alerts the driver to the fault throttle position output, circuit low retarded timing position, the engine might refuse to start auxiliary engine coolant (ec) pump relay (j496), open or short to ground you can see the exhaust pressure regulator vent solenoid, control circuit low is the final reason of the code. |
02870 Possible Causes:
02870 vw fault code may be caused by one or more of the following:
- Cylinder 10 Contribution/balance Fault
- Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor Circuit Malfunction
- Shift/Timing Solenoid Malfunction/ 3-2 Shift Solenoid Circuit Electrical
- Glow Plug/Heater Circuit 'A' Malfunction
What To Check After Fixing 02870 Code
- Inspect all the connections ignition switch run position, circuit low
- Check the engine oil to ensure it's clean and the viscosity
- Restart the vehicle and retest to see if the error returns
