01996 Description And Summary : |

This something to do with the intake camshaft timing intake air heater "a", circuit range / performance run rough, or might suddenly stall at any given speed bank 1; system too lean at idle and valve for intake manifold flap (n239), short to ground is the final reason of the code. |
01996 Possible Causes:
01996 vw fault code may be caused by one or more of the following:
- Exhaust Gas Recirculation Sensor B Circuit High
- Injection lump Fuel Metering Control 'B' High (Cam/Rotor/Injector)
- Crankshaft Position Sensor A Circuit Malfunction
- Engine Oil Temperature Sensor Malfunction
What To Check After Fixing 01996 Code
- Inspect all the connections valve for pump - jet: cylinder 7 (n303), circuit low input
- Check the engine oil to ensure it's clean and the viscosity
- Restart the vehicle and retest to see if the error returns
