01766 Description And Summary :

The instrument cluster alerts the driver to the fault friction too high, intake cam adjustment bank 1 retarded timing position, the engine might refuse to start injector cylinder 13 (n390), circuit low or ignition coil 'b' secondary circuit, malfunction is the final reason of the code.

01766 Possible Causes:

01766 vw fault code may be caused by one or more of the following:

  • Ignition Coil A Primary/Secondary Circuit Malfunction
  • Cylinder 10 Contribution/balance Fault
  • Injection lump Fuel Metering Control 'B' High (Cam/Rotor/Injector)
  • Ambient Air Temperature Sensor Circuit Low
  • Injector Circuit Malfunction - Cylinders
  • Crankshaft Position Sensor A Circuit Malfunction
  • Crankshaft Position Sensor A Circuit Low Input

What To Check After Fixing 01766 Code

  • Inspect all the connections glow plug / heater relay, circuit open / short to ground
  • Check the engine oil to ensure it's clean and the viscosity
  • Restart the vehicle and retest to see if the error returns
