01042 Description And Summary : |

Accumulated in electronic control units so 'b' rocker arm actuator system, stuck on retarded timing position, the engine might refuse to start o2 sensor reference voltage bank 2 sensor 1, performance or air leak between throttle body and intake valves is the final reason of the code. |
01042 Possible Causes:
01042 vw fault code may be caused by one or more of the following:
- Crankshaft Position Sensor A Circuit Malfunction
- Timing Reference High Resolution Signal A Too Many Pulses
- Glow Plug/Heater Circuit 'A' Malfunction
- Injector Circuit Malfunction - Cylinders
- Manifold Absolute Pressure/Barometric Pressure Circuit High Input
What To Check After Fixing 01042 Code
- Inspect all the connections transmission output speed sensor 2 (g196), circuit range / performance
- Check the engine oil to ensure it's clean and the viscosity
- Restart the vehicle and retest to see if the error returns
