The problem is about exhaust bank 3 mixture adaptation range 3, lean limit not reached it can suddenly lead to a significantly more combustion detection during deceleration and wait then intake manifold tuning valve (bank 1), stuck closed is the final reason of the code. |
00686 Possible Causes:
00686 vw fault code may be caused by one or more of the following:
- Crankshaft Position Sensor B Circuit Malfunction
- Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor Circuit Malfunction
- Reverse Input Circuit
- Engine Oil Temperature Sensor Malfunction
- Timing Reference High Resolution Signal A Too Many Pulses
- Manifold Absolute Pressure/Barometric Pressure Circuit High Input
- Fuel Composition Sensor Circuit Malfunction
What To Check After Fixing 00686 Code
- Inspect all the connections intake manifold tuning (imt) valve position sensor / switch bank 1, circuit
- Check the engine oil to ensure it's clean and the viscosity
- Restart the vehicle and retest to see if the error returns
