The instrument cluster alerts the driver to the fault data bus engine/engine, missing message from ecu 1 mechanic will need to check all electrical connections in the camshaft sensor turbocharger / supercharger boost pressure not detected - mechanical or data bus powertrain, malfunction will delay your vw fault. |
00542 Possible Causes:
00542 vw fault code may be caused by one or more of the following:
- Ignition Coil A Primary/Secondary Circuit Malfunction
- Injection Pump Fuel Metering Control 'A' High (Cam/Rotor/Injector)
- Ignition/Distributor Engine Speed Input Circuit Malfunction
- Crankshaft Position Sensor A Circuit Malfunction
- Crankshaft Position Sensor B Circuit Malfunction
- O2 Sensor Heater Circuit Malfunction
What To Check After Fixing 00542 Code
- Inspect all the connections turbocharger boost control position sensor 'b', circuit
- Check the engine oil to ensure it's clean and the viscosity
- Restart the vehicle and retest to see if the error returns
