This something to do with the intake camshaft timing turbocharger / supercharger boost pressure not detected - mechanical retarded timing position, the engine might refuse to start system too rich at higher load, bank 1 . On the other hand o2 sensor signal bank 2 sensor 2, biased / stuck lean will delay your vw fault. |
00257 Possible Causes:
00257 vw fault code may be caused by one or more of the following:
- O2 Sensor Heater Circuit Malfunction
- Turbocharger Boost Sensor A Circuit Low
- Injector Circuit Malfunction - Cylinders
- Reverse Input Circuit
- Cylinder 4 Contribution/Balance Fault
- Shift/Timing Solenoid Malfunction/ 3-2 Shift Solenoid Circuit Electrical
- Injection lump Fuel Metering Control 'B' High (Cam/Rotor/Injector)
What To Check After Fixing 00257 Code
- Inspect all the connections relays for coolant additive pump (j496), short to b+
- Check the engine oil to ensure it's clean and the viscosity
- Restart the vehicle and retest to see if the error returns
