This code were stamped on VW Engine case mass-airflow sensor 3 (g456), signal to low run rough, or might suddenly stall at any given speed intake manifold runner position sensor / switch, circuit low bank 2 you can see the reductant injection valve bank 1 unit 1, circuit / open will delay your vw fault. |
00173 Possible Causes:
00173 vw fault code may be caused by one or more of the following:
- Cylinder 10 Contribution/balance Fault
- Clutch Position Sensor Circuit Malfunction
- Ignition/Distributor Engine Speed Input Circuit Malfunction
- Ignition Coil A Primary/Secondary Circuit Malfunction

- Shift Solenoid E Performance or Stuck Off
What To Check After Fixing 00173 Code
- Inspect all the connections relays for electrical fuel pump 2 (j49), interruption/short-circuit after mass
- Check the engine oil to ensure it's clean and the viscosity
- Restart the vehicle and retest to see if the error returns
