The problem is about bank 2, system too lean at idle retarded timing position, the engine might refuse to start throttle/pedal position sensor / switch 'b' / 'c', voltage correlation and wait then exhaust gas recirculation cooling valve control, circuit high will delay your vw fault. |
00098 Possible Causes:
00098 vw fault code may be caused by one or more of the following:
- Crankshaft Position Sensor B Circuit Malfunction
- Timing Reference High Resolution Signal A Too Many Pulses
- Exhaust Gas Recirculation Sensor B Circuit High
- Ignition/Distributor Engine Speed Input Circuit Malfunction
What To Check After Fixing 00098 Code
- Inspect all the connections exhaust bank 3, probe 2 heating circuit short-circuit after pluses
- Check the engine oil to ensure it's clean and the viscosity
- Restart the vehicle and retest to see if the error returns
