The instrument cluster alerts the driver to the fault angle sensors 2 for butterfly valve drive 2 (g298), signal too small retarded timing position, the engine might refuse to start direct ozone reduction catalyst temperature sensor, circuit range / performance you can see the exhaust bank 4 mixture adaptation range 3, lean limit not reached will delay your vw fault. |
00042 Possible Causes:
00042 vw fault code may be caused by one or more of the following:
- Injection Pump Fuel Metering Control 'A' High (Cam/Rotor/Injector)
- Cylinder 1 Injector Circuit Low
- Injector Circuit Malfunction - Cylinders
- Engine Shutoff Solenoid Malfunction
- Injection lump Fuel Metering Control 'B' High (Cam/Rotor/Injector)
- Fuel Rail/System Pressure - Too High
- Timing Reference High Resolution Signal A Too Many Pulses
What To Check After Fixing 00042 Code
- Inspect all the connections linear oxygen sensor exhaust bank 2 / pump current, short to ground
- Check the engine oil to ensure it's clean and the viscosity
- Restart the vehicle and retest to see if the error returns
